Why hair damage is good for fine hair

January 16th, 2008 · No Comments

Fine hair is an anomalie in that damage is a plus, as long as the damage is kept under control. When fine hair is lightened any bleach that may be considered damaging thickens the cuticle. If you are nervous about breakage a simple solution is to strengthen hair once a week with a protein hair treatment. A perm is another well known solution to give fine hair body.

My hair is fine and thick. For more information, see the article Fine but Thick Hair: Does it exist? I recommend some kind of "constructive damage" as I like to call it for any limp fine hair. I have gotten perms before, although perms are not my personal preference for fine hair constructive damage. I prefer lightening or any color treatment to add body to my limp locks. My hair is naturally wavy- sometimes I let my hair dry naturally and spritz with a curl enhancer for more volume.

In my opinion lightening is a boost to any woman’s hair. My hair is naturally very dark, only a few shades shy of black. I consider my natural color very beautiful, although I love to lighten my hair in the warmer months. I love the way lightening my hair improves my skin tone- a slight tan goes a long way with lighter hair.

Lightening is a part of my new strategy for preventing premature skin aging. I am encouraging myself to ease up on the tan and to lighten my hair more. I have also started to use a self-tanner. My younger self would have scoffed at the idea of a self-tanner, but I am a more mature me! I have noticed the effects of tanning on my skin. I am devoted to preventing any more unnecessary skin damage!
