Almay’s mineral foundation made this list because the product matched my light golden complexion very well. However, the assumption that this drugstore mineral makeup is lower cost is misleading. Almay retails from $12-$13 for only a measly ounce of yummy mineral foundation. The other drawback is that the container makes Almay’s mineral foundation very difficult to apply. The foundation itself I like even better than the more expensive Bare Escentuals, which falls into an entirely different price range.

What I like about Maybelline’s mineral foundation is the variety- they offer a liquid mineral foundation, a loose powder, the usual mineral powder foundation, and last but not least the all popular mineral veil. I have only used the loose mineral powder- I use powder most often as a foundation because it allows the skin to breathe. I loved the look and the silkiness of the loose powder. The color was not a perfect match to my skin, but it looked very natural and was hardly noticeable. The price was right, too.

This brand can be found online at their very own website. I discovered the site while looking for new foudations to try. Their color matching is excellent. I love the sample of light golden foundation I bought from them- and it only cost $2.50. Surprisingly, it has lasted me near a month.

Its super affordable, and if you get on the mailing list (email) you will be sent offers occasionally for free shipping. I can order a container of foundation anytime and have it sent to my front door for only $10. Avon’s foundation lasts me several months. You may want to try Avon’s “starter kit” if you are trying their minerals for the first time. I had trouble matching my skin color properly. Light Beige is beautiful, my shade, and I also used just the transparent glow for a lighter, more natural look.
