Mineral Makeup is all the rage. Don’t get me wrong, I use it too and love it. I think its ironic, though, how mineral makeup is marketed as a "new" product that is revolutionary as if no one has thought of it before.

Before the makeup industry women wore makeup- hundreds of years ago- and makeup was obviously not mass-produced. Instead makeup was derived from what the human race knew and had access to- minerals.

I have been stressing lately about the quality of my skin. After looking at pictures of myself just five years ago, I have concluded that my skin seriously needs help. My skin lacks that youthful glow it once had. I have switched from tanning beds to self-tanners and am drinking lots a water- its made a huge difference. I still have a few years I’d like to shed from my skin. Makeup has done so much damage to my skin lately. I have begun breaking out constantly- a problem I didn’t have as a teenager. Go figure! After extensive research I have found that mineral makeup is a great solution for all of my skin problems. Mineral makeup

Okay, I don’t really eat my mineral makeup, but I do adore it! And minerals are so good for us, whether in our makeup, a supplement, or in our water. Below I showcase colorful mineral shades that look good enough to eat. Mineral makeup is less colorful than traditional makeup by nature, but I like pizazz- and a lot of color.

I researched colorful mineral makeup and found two online stores that had a lot to offer. These are some of my favorite shades.

Elf cosmetics offer mineral makeup starter kits for $20. Each kit comes with brushes and bag…although a kabuki brush is not included. The mineral makeup sold separately costs only $5, including foundation, concealor, and blush. Bronzer is $8 but is a much larger portion. I loved the elf mineral makeup. I have had trouble breaking out in the past. Elf’s mineral makeup eliminated my breakouts- I could wear foundation without getting acne! This is a first. However, I would not recommend Elf’s mineral makeup for those who like a lot of coverage. Elf’s mineral makeup gave my face that extra youthful glow with a hint a shimmer.

I am fascinated with mineral makeup. I was not aware that this special natural cosmetic has been around since the ’70’s. Mineral makeup is available in many colors and is touted to be anti-acne, anti-inflammatory, and contain SPF properties naturally.

I borrowed this woman’s illustration of the beauty of mineral makeup from her squidoo page at http://www.squidoo.com/NaturalMineralMakeUp. The makeup covers up her Rosacea so well that its virtually non-existent… and over time it will decrease the effects of Rosacea because of the ant-inflammatory effects.
