No thank you inexpensive mineral makeup (from ELF cosmetics)

March 12th, 2008 · No Comments

I’ve been using ELF mineral makeup for a while now. I was so excited that their mineral makeup is only $5-$8 for a substantial amount. I loved the way it looked too. Unfortunately I have recently become very disappointed! You get what you pay for, and I didn’t pay much.

75% of women are allergic to bismuth oxychloride, an ingredient in many brands of mineral makeup that increases the beauty and luminosity of the effect.

Bare Escentuals How-To and Tutorial Kits

So as I said, the ELF mineral makeup looked great. It felt great too. But I am one of the unlucky 75% who is allergic to this ingredient.

I broke out in a rash on the sides of my face. The right side is very bad. I cover it up with my hair, although it covers a substantial portion of my face. I am sure it is apparent at certain angles.

I have a solution, however. I have bought bare escentuals from their website. I liked their color match system. I bought a kit for only$60 that will start me out right. I just selected the correct color for my skin- medium- and the kit comes with two shades for medium. This allows the user to mix to match their skin color.

I really enjoyed bare escentual’s other starter kits for eyes. I bought a foiling kit and a smoky eyes kit, both in similar earthy purple hues. I really liked these colors and I believe they will look fantastic on me. They even come with great patent pending brushes that have very specific uses. I’m so excited!
