Sodashop Palette by Tokidoki

May 26th, 2011 · No Comments

Eyeshadows that are promised to smooth blend and hydrate, a Perfetto eyeliner that will create three rad effects, a fun tin as well as a character nail file and “toy” magnet: this makeup set by Tokidoki has just about everything a girl can imagine. Not only does it offer so much, but the eyeshadow set just seems to lend itself to imagination & playfulness. What youthful inspirations- what more could you ask for in the way of a beauty boost? Sephora offers this set for a mere $35, although the site claims the set is worth near $225. Not sure how that’s possible…but I sure do still wanna check it out. :)

Buxom Lashliner Adventures (by Bare Escentuals)

April 19th, 2011 · No Comments

As you may be able to see, I HATE the brush that Buxom claims to work best with their deliciously creamy eyeliner. In case you can’t tell, I love the eyeliner. I spent a good 30 minutes searching for a replacement for the creamy liner, since I already had used sequins but didn’t really go for it.

I looked at several creamy liners as well as a few eye bases/shadows that could possibly be used for a similar effect. Overall I came back to Buxom’s eyeliner and decided to get Sephora’s slanted eyeliner brush for just $14 because of my (lack of ) success in the past with Bare Escentuals’ brush.

5 Steps to Beautiful Blue Eyes

July 27th, 2010 · No Comments

Step 1: Start with a shawdow color that doesn’t overpower your pretty blues.

Shadows in warm tones such as browns, rose, muaves, and violets work with the cold tone of your blue eyes to really make them stand out. If you have light blue eyes, stay with a light shade of these colors that are just a little darker than your eye color. Darker blue eyes can go with a darker shadow as well as use bright accents like turqouise, fuschia, and shimmer colors in gold and silver. For bold night time choices, all blue eye shades look great with a darker grey, or black mixed with icey pinks, and lavenders.

Top 4 Inexpensive Mineral Makeup Foundations

February 27th, 2010 · No Comments

#4 Almay

Almay’s mineral foundation made this list because the product matched my light golden complexion very well. However, the assumption that this drugstore mineral makeup is lower cost is misleading. Almay retails from $12-$13 for only a measly ounce of yummy mineral foundation. The other drawback is that the container makes Almay’s mineral foundation very difficult to apply. The foundation itself I like even better than the more expensive Bare Escentuals, which falls into an entirely different price range.

*BEST* Inexpensive Mineral Makeup (in my opinion, at least)

February 27th, 2010 · 1 Comment

Surprise, surpise! Who would’ve guessed? I surely wouldn’t have a year ago- that I’d be using Avon mineral makeup religiously. And no, I do *not* sell or distribute avon.

I tried a few of Avon’s products recently- a chapstick, lipgloss, and purse size lotion- mainly because a family member started selling the line. I wasn’t serious about the products but was pretty shocked to find they weren’t all that bad.

I really got brave when I tried Avon’s Mineral Makeup… I thought for $20 a “starter kit” was no harm, no foul and that I wouldn’t be out that much moolah if I ended up not liking Avon’s minerals.
