Building a Timeless Wardrobe

January 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Aren’t you tired of spending beaucoup bucks on the latest trends, only to have them go out of style and look silly after a couple of months? There’s an easy solution: build a wardrobe that will last.

Think back into the past. What clothing have you replaced over the years? For example, you have a white blouse in a certain cut that you’ve worn for 5 years- and a seam rips. This shirt looks great on you- what a bummer!!! Hurry to the store to find a replacement. These types of clothing are the basics of a timeless wardrobe.

Conservative is key in timeless dress. Choose basic items like jeans, shirts, and dresses from your closet. Are they conservative enough to be timeless? If so, you will wear them for a long time!

Some examples:

Jeans

Stick with a basic style that is flattering to your body. Slightly flared jeans, not wide leg, are universally flattering and create length, drawing eyes away from the derriere.

Shirts

Classic colors are important in a timeless wardrobe. Begin with white and black or brown, then add gray and a few colors are sure to be your fave for a long time.

T-shirts

T-shirts work well under other casual pieces in any season.

Pants

Again, basic colors and fit, as long as they flatter.

Skirt

A pencil skirt flatters most and rarely goes out of style.

Dresses

Dresses are elegant and chic by nature. Be sure to choose several lengths appropriate for many seasons and occasion.

The pump

Although its eternally reinvented the pump is a classy shoe.
