I’ve been using ELF mineral makeup for a while now. I was so excited that their mineral makeup is only $5-$8 for a substantial amount. I loved the way it looked too. Unfortunately I have recently become very disappointed! You get what you pay for, and I didn’t pay much.

Mineral Makeup is all the rage. Don’t get me wrong, I use it too and love it. I think its ironic, though, how mineral makeup is marketed as a "new" product that is revolutionary as if no one has thought of it before.

Before the makeup industry women wore makeup- hundreds of years ago- and makeup was obviously not mass-produced. Instead makeup was derived from what the human race knew and had access to- minerals.

I have been stressing lately about the quality of my skin. After looking at pictures of myself just five years ago, I have concluded that my skin seriously needs help. My skin lacks that youthful glow it once had. I have switched from tanning beds to self-tanners and am drinking lots a water- its made a huge difference. I still have a few years I’d like to shed from my skin. Makeup has done so much damage to my skin lately. I have begun breaking out constantly- a problem I didn’t have as a teenager. Go figure! Below I showcase colorful mineral shades that look good enough to eat. Mineral makeup is less colorful than traditional makeup by nature, but I like pizazz- and a lot of color.

Elf cosmetics offer mineral makeup starter kits for $20. Each kit comes with brushes and bag…although a kabuki brush is not included. The mineral makeup sold separately costs only $5, including foundation, concealor, and blush. Bronzer is $8 but is a much larger portion. I loved the elf mineral makeup. I have had trouble breaking out in the past. Elf’s mineral makeup eliminated my breakouts- I could wear foundation without getting acne! This is a first. However, I would not recommend Elf’s mineral makeup for those who like a lot of coverage. Elf’s mineral makeup gave my face that extra youthful glow with a hint a shimmer.
